About Massi

Hello and Welcome! I am Massiel, but you can call me Massi. This is my baby..Bleu Luna. A rare but unique name, just like my own. I came up with it at desperate measures in having a screen name for an account on a separate web site. After much thinking it finally dawned on me Bleu Luna. Which translates to Blue Moon. Blue Moon happens to be my favorite ice cream. Now people, that is a big deal. I am a indecisive person. I love too many things. Blue Moon captured my soul and toyed with my taste buds and I have been a devoted follower since. Grant it, I don't eat much ice cream, but when I do its pure..mmmmmlicious!

I also love the French language. I have tried teaching myself French. Not easy! Completely love it and also the color Blue! I gave Blue a french twist and spelled it "Bleu" and Luna as we know Spanish for Moon. Voila! Bleu Luna is born and will be my trademark name for all my cooking endeavors to come.

As for me, what lead me to Bleu Luna you ask? I guess it starts from a young age when I learned to make Espresso on the stove top old school style. Moved on to baking Banana Bread, Muffins, Cookies, Fruit Pizza and Chili! Chili was my first meal deal.

While making my first batch of Chili, my Grandfather brought me over some Habaneros. Habaneros were so cute and little. Ha! I laugh now. I thought since they were so little that perhaps I should chop up a select few of them. Mr. Habanero didn't seem so cute being little. That sucker was HOT! I mean I had a pot of molten lava from the pits of hell. It was just thee most overwhelming heat I've ever encountered. My poor chili, it was looking so beautiful. Smelled and tasted wonderful! I was so happy to show case it to my Family and feed them. Was I ever upset. I tried adding more stewed Tomatoes, sugar, really anything that I could think of. I ended up just giving my garbage disposal indigestion with it and learned a mighty lesson from the Habanero.

Years went by and occasionally I would cook at friends houses and make a few treats here and there. In my early 20's I became familiar with Bobby Flay and Martha Stewart. I enjoyed them both. Bobby Flay I thought was adorable and I wanted to meet him one day. He just made food interesting to me. Martha was crafty and a great Hostess. Always knew how to greet guest and put up a good show at a dinner party or any event or gathering. Her food seemed classy and effortless. In saying that, the combination of both stirred up a dormant gift of mine and long desire of cooking great food and being a great hostess. At least I try to be when given the opportunity. I do enjoy and with great pleasure spoiling others with food and gifts whenever given a chance. I have grown to learn that is my love language..the gift of giving and especially of food!

I've always had a desire to have a Cuban cafe of some sort. Being Cuban sandwiches with weekend buffets, Cuban shakes with pastries. As we all know, Cuban food rocks the casbah and everyone needs to be introduced to it. But dreams and desires at times seem impossible and too much work. People put it on back burners and just settle and live with their life. Until it happens....

What happened is people admiring your food, missing your food, believing in you and meeting that kindred spirit that awakens that old lost dormant desire again. I say for now its here to stay. A Cafe would be great, with the right partner, but I want a life and a life to live in the process so I started this blog to continue feeding the desire and getting my name out and perhaps a cookbook in the future. Bleu Luna Cafe then will be the big long term project.

To be continued......

xoxo
