Plum & Fig Crescent Surpise with Gorgonzola Cheese

Forever in a day have I been wanting to make a rustic open pie or tart with Figs and Plums. Didn't have time to make dough and couldn't find the dough at the store on single sheets so I settled in using crescent rolls in a tube. Presentation for the first time wasn't all there, but flavor definitely was! I don't think I would serve this to anyone, but I had to post it because its a creation of mine. Out of the box creation.

Plum & Fig Crescent Surprise
with Gorgonzola Cheese

1 roll of Pillsbury Crescent roll (They have seamless ones now in one sheet!)
3 Sweet Plums
6 Figs
1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp. Flour (Wish I would have used some..helps thicken the sweet goodness)
1/3 cup of Crumbled Gorgonzola

1. Preheat oven @ 375.

2. Lay Crescent roll on a jelly roll pan or baking sheet with sides on it. We are going to keep it in a rectangle shape. Slightly stretch out the sides a bit so you have extra room to fold over at the end.

3. Slice up Figs and Pitted Plums. Spread bottom of crust with a light dusting of the sugar.

4. In bowl, toss the fruit with sugar and flour. I didn't do the flour and really don't know why, but I regret it so DO IT! It will thicken up the juices.

5. Lay the fruit on the dough. Leaving about 2 inches from side. Keeping to the shape of the dough form the fruit nicely on the dough and then toss in the cheese on top. You may add more dusting of sugar if you like.

6. Fold over sides nicely. Making sure the dough doesn't tear. The fruit will show in the middle majority. The edges will be covered.

7. Place in oven and bake for 20-25 minutes. Until golden brown.

Let cool and thicken before cutting. Cut into wedges. Mine was messy and I ate it with a fork. Let me know how it turns out, since this was my first attempt at making this. Newer photos to go on once I make it on a second attempt to perfect it. I think this would be good with a small dollop of whip cream! Mmmmm. Gotta love Gorgonzola to like this.
